CREED

"You are good. But it is not enough to be good. You must be good for something. You must contribute good to the world. The world must be a better place for your presence. And the good that is in you must spread to others." -President Gordon B Hinckley

A New Crowdfunding Project

Welcome to CREED's new Crowdfunding Project!  This is a great way to advance small business.  My niece, Carrie Brock, is currently in Uganda working with women who have AIDS helping them become more self sufficient by improving their small businesses and teaching them new skills.  The group she is with has also been working with a small orphanage.

The people who run the orphanage, Paul and Rose, are very set on the children receiving a good education, which in Uganda costs about $50 USD per semester per child.  They currently have 27 children.  Rather than rely on outside grants all the time Paul and Rose look for ways to help teach the children to earn the money, yes you read it right, earn the money so they can go to school.  So the children tend a garden and things like that, which teach them valuable skills, along with a good work ethic.  They say the problem with grants is that the come and go, so they would rather have a small business they could run and earn the money to help support the children.

The Idea...
That is when they thought of the chicken farm idea.  They approached my niece's group about funding the "chicken coop" figuring that to build a coop big enough and strong enough to withstand the elements and wild animals would cost approximately $1,500 USD.   So I thought we could try to raise a few dollars at CREED and send to my niece in Uganda to help.  You are welcome to read her blog at http://carrieinuganda.blogspot.com/2010/06/childs-prayer.html.  If every one contributed $50.00 it would only take 30 contributors to send the money.  Do Something Good!

To start you may participate in this great project by following these simple rules:

CREED, Inc. - the Center of Resources of for Economic Education and Development, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c)3 corporation qualified with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and is dedicated to serving the public with information relative to personal financial and business development education.

One of CREED's goals is to develop a data base of many different business plans for micro businesses that can be started with little or no capital.  These business plans would be distributed to people in countries where they may start these micro businesses, which will allow these people to improve their standard of living andsupport their families.  The micro business plans would be translated into their own language so it would be easier for them to implement and use.  Each business plan is simple and short - maximum 10 pages with a sample financial projection for three years.

CREED, Inc. also assists children by providing the necessary materials to gain an education.  Through your donations, CREED provides school kits for needy children.  The children may receive these kits after a natural disaster and need the help to re-start their education or the school kits may be given to children in third world countries.  In many cases these children who may not have the basic supplies of paper & pencils may keep them from attending school and thus learning to read and write.

Donors may also make gifts to other charities and non-profits through CREED's Donor Advised Fund (DAF).  A Donor-Advised Fun offers the opportunity to create an easy-to-establish, low cost flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to driect giving or creating a private foundation.  Donors enjoy administrative convenience, cost savings and tax advantages by conducting ther grantmaking through a DAF.  Thus implementing a simple gift giving program, customized and controlled by the donor's wishes.
