"You are good. But it is not enough to be good. You must be good for something. You must contribute good to the world. The world must be a better place for your presence. And the good that is in you must spread to others." -Gordon B Hinckley
Marine Corps Birthday Ball

Crown Jewel up for Auction
CREED is assisting the Marine Corps by sponsoring their annual birthday ball held in Tampa, Florida, Saturday November 19th. We are very excited about this. We will also be sponsoring an annual scholarship, the Andrew J. Aviles Award which will be awarded to a member of the Marine Corps who is pursuing a degree from a college or university . CREED is accepting donations for the funding of this award; below is a little background on this award:
Lance Corporal Andrew J. Aviles was mobilized with H&S Company for Operation Enduring Freedom and subsequently served with the First Marine Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was killed in action on 7 April 2003 when his AAV was struck by Iraqi artillery. Andrew was an outstanding scholar, graduating third in his high school class, he won a full academic scholarship to the University of Southern Florida. Andrew delayed entry to college to first join the Marine Corps Reserves and serve his country.
Our mission will be to assist the 4th Assault Annphibian Battalion, 4th Marine Division, To honor and pay tribute to the memory of Lance Corporal Andrew J. Aviles by selecting a deserving Marine from the Company to receive the annual Andrew J. Aviles Award and Scholarship.
We are thrilled to help the Marine Corps of the United States of America. This year as part of the celebration we are auctioning the above sculpture, the Crown Jewel, which was donated by Masterpiece Investments, Corp.; the Gallery Price for this incredible sculpture is $28,000. The reserve bid is $3,900, this can be a great opportunity to own a valuable piece of art. Bids are taken by email to donatetoday@creedinc.org; CREED will update bidders on all bidding activity. Mr. Peter Nolan is in possession of the sculpture, and he will show it to anyone who is interested. We invite anyone to bid on this masterpiece!
For all who have donated to the Marine Corps Birthday Ball or are bidding on the "Crown Jewel" we all say,
Thank You!
Orphanage Chicken Coop Project:
The chicken coop was a huge success, truly a meaningful experience for all involved. Given the fact that none of our volunteers where quite sure how to build it we solicited the help of the local carpenters who created blueprints for a coop that would provide a quality structure at low cost. It took 3 days to build the chicken coop. Each day our team would wake up at 5:00 to make the hour and a half journey out to the orphanage to begin construction. Unfortunately by this time I myself had been required to return to the States due to previous commitments. I continued to communicate with my team often both over the phone and through e-mail. Each day they had a new story for me about the progress they were making and the experiences they were having. I once asked my team member Cecilly, who took over the chicken coop project after I had left, how the project made an impact on her. This was her response:
" I think of those days we built the chicken coop at the orphanage and I have to quickly wipe the corner of my eye. Working out the logistics of the coop caused some stress--finding the best prices, most efficient modes of transportation, and paying for feed, chicks; some supplies in advance... but the "grunt work" was more than worth the worry when I thought of the real lives; that were impacted by it. Paul confided in me which students had to sit out this term because they couldn't find school fees, and I thought of the injustice to that. I would be returning to college in three weeks with no worry on my mind how tuition would be paid for--and yet for 1/20th of the cost they could go to school for probably several years. They would be impacted forever. Not only with a formal education but they will also be able to learn a skill--poultry keeping--and subsequently take that knowledge and help to lift their country out of the impoverished state it is in.

We are working to start a project a little closer to home - in Belize, so please stay tuned.
We invite you to be a part of these projects by making a contribution to CREED

Each business plan is simple and short - maximum 10 pages with a sample financial projection for three years.

The children may receive these kits after a natural disaster and need the help to re-start their education or the school kits may be given to children in third world countries. In many cases these children who may not have the basic supplies of paper & pencils may keep them from attending school and thus learning to read and write.

Donors enjoy administrative convenience, cost savings and tax advantages by conducting their grant making through a DAF; thus implementing a simple gift giving program, customized and controlled by the donor's wishes.
